Ireland’s largest Pay As You Go electricity provider, PrePayPower, has this month joined the EAI as an Associate member.
EAI CEO Owen Wilson said:
“We very much welcome PrePayPower to our membership, particularly at this time of great change and innovation for the energy sector. The electricity industry recognises that to reduce our island’s dependence on imported fossil fuels and address the wider challenge of climate change we must make use of multiple technologies. As a result, the traditional relationship between supplier and customer is changing to one that is far more interactive. As Ireland’s first and largest dedicated Pay As You Go electricity provider PrePayPower is fully aware of the active role that customers can play in managing their own energy demand that in turn will help facilitate a low carbon energy system in the future.”
Chief Executive of PrePayPower Cathal Fay said:
“PrePayPower welcome the opportunity to join EAI and feel it is an important forum for the industry. We look forward to helping shape the changing market along with other industry representatives through our membership of the EAI.”
PrePayPower was set up in 2009 and is 100 per cent Irish owned.
EAI membership comprises utilities that represent over 90 percent of generation and retail business activities and 100 per cent of distribution within the Single Electricity Market (SEM). Members range in size from international power utilities to independent single plant operators.
Member representatives have the opportunity to sit on four EAI Committees; Markets, Policy, Retail, and Networks, and on the Task Forces (TFs) established to deliver their key objectives.
EAI also provides an information service to members and acts as a forum for corporate networking, leading focused conversation on energy issues across Ireland, GB and Europe.
