With the EU ITRE and ENVI Committees due to vote next month on proposals to reform the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and Effort Sharing Regulation, EAI is issuing a Policy Statement on this and other related matters to relevant MEPs.
The overarching aim of EAI, in support of domestic and EU policy, is the economy-wide
decarbonisation of the energy system:
- EAI endorses full delivery of the 2020 target of a 40% contribution from RES-E.
- Maintaining at least a 40% RES-E penetration level after 2020.
