The proposed development comprises the 23 mile (approx.) section within Northern Ireland of the 87 mile / 140 km (approx.) North-South Interconnector project. The development is of both regional and strategic significance for Northern Ireland and also the Republic of Ireland. The EAI submission to the Northern Ireland Planning Appeals Commission focuses on: The economic requirement for a sustainable and secure energy supply The societal requirement for affordable energy and The environmental requirement to reduce Northern Ireland's carbon footprint and facilitate mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
