Head of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Strategy, ESB

Peter O'Shea  joined ESB in 1999 with responsibility for competition and regulation, a role in which he oversaw the development of competitive wholesale and retail electricity markets across Ireland. Prior to taking up his current position he served as Chief Information Officer for ESB for four years and spent  a short period as Financial Controller of ESB Power Generation.

Peter commenced his career in the UK in 1987 with the Central Electricity Generating Board and held a number of commercial, technical and regulatory positions with the National Grid Company before joining ESB in 1999. He holds an honours degree in electronic engineering from University College Dublin and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Warwick.

Peter is a Board Member at the British Irish Chamber of Commerce and past Chairman of the Energy Policy Committee at the Chamber.  In his spare time Peter is heavily involved in gaelic games and is Chairman of Ballinteer St Johns GAA Club in Dublin.
